Iran: More than 80 killed and wounded as buses collided head on

NCRI – At least 44 people died and 39 others wounded in Iran after two intercity buses collided and burst into flames on Monday night.

According to the State-run TV the accident happened when one of the buses, which had a flat tire, swerved into the opposite lane, colliding head-on with the other bus. Immediately Both buses caught fire.

The buses were travelling on the Qum-Tehran Highway.

Road traffic accidents kill nearly 28,000 people and injure or disable 300,000 people a year in Iran, which has a population of around 75 million.

World Health Organization figures show Iran has the fifth highest level of road deaths out of 25 countries in the survey, and the figure is worsening every year.
