Maryam Rajavi: Not much time left before Iran regime acquire atom bombDelay in imposing sanctions no longer justified

NCRI – As the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council and Germany are set to meet in Paris, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the Iranian Resistance’s President elect, called for the immediate imposition of sanctions against the Iranian regime.

“The report by the International Atomic Energy Agency left no doubt about the intentions of mullahs to deceive the international community in order to buy more time to develop the nuclear bomb. Thus, the United Nations Security Council should, without further delay, impose comprehensive sanctions against the religious dictators ruling Iran," Mrs. Rajavi said.

“The Iranian regime has started uranium enrichment and is planning to start up new centrifuges shortly, the international community does have much time left.  Simultaneous with efforts to complete its fuel cycle, the regime is trying to obtain or has already acquired other necessary components such as the bomb casing, nuclear triggers and detonators as well as the hot press machines to shape the enriched uranium.  A single day of delay, in adopting a firm policy is, therefore, unacceptable and the mullahs should not be allowed to complete their nuclear weapons program.”

Mrs. Rajavi added, “The mullahs’ nuclear program is contrary to the highest interests of the Iranian people, a vast majority of whom are opposed to it.  Acquiring nuclear weapons is a part of regime’s strategy to preserve the regime and will thus never abandon its nuclear program.  For this same reason, the ultimate solution is democratic change in Iran by the Iranian people and their organized Resistance.  Regrettably, the terror tag against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran, the most pivotal force of this movement, has acted as the main obstacle to this change and should be removed immediately.”
