Mashaei says if disqualified he will legally protest

NCRI – Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei, the favorite candidate of Mohmoud Ahmadinejad has said that if the Guardians Council does not verify his qualification to run in the election, he will follow the matter legally.

In response to a question asked about his possible disqualification by the Guardians Council, he said on Monday: “I consider myself fully qualified. If it wasn’t so, we wouldn’t even appear in the elections.”

According to officials in the Interior Ministry, the final list of the qualified candidates for the presidential election will be announced on May 22 and after that, the candidate’s official campaign will begin.

Meanwhile, regarding possible disqualification of Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Ali Motahari, a member of parliament has said: “If this really happens, the principles of revolution and the Islamic Republic of Iran will be undermined because Rafsanjani has had the main role in the Islamic revolution.”

Motahari said “If they (Guardian Council) disqualify Rafsanjani, they have caused great danger.”
