Iran: Widespread prison abuses continue

NCRI – A horrific catalogue of abuses of prisoners in Iran has been reported from inside the regime.

At Evin prison’s Ward 350, inmates have been deprived of meals and denied family visits as punishment for a protest over the quality and price of food sold at the prison shop.

Also at Evin, inmate Assadollah Hadi, who is suffering from heart problems, has been taken out of hospital although his treatment has not been completed.

At Ahvaz prison, five political prisoners from the Arab minority are awaiting execution, in a barbaric punishment aimed at intimidating the youths of Khuzistan province on the eve of the presidential election.

At Karaj prison, inmates have been subjected to five cell raids at day and night in two weeks and had their belongings stolen or destroyed and suffering degrading treatment.

They are being carried out on the orders of prison chief
Ali Mohammadi, notorious for his role in the 1988 massacre of political prisoners in Iran.

Hassan Sadeghi and wife Fatemeh Mossana and their 17-years-old son Nima Sadeghi continue to be held in solitary confinement since their arrest three months ago.

The family were arrested for planning to hold a private memorial service at their house for his father Gholamhossein Sadeghi – a prominent merchant in Tehran’s Bazaar and a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran – who died on January 23.
