Iraqi tribal chief demands return of Liberty residents to Ashraf

NCRI – Iraq must return the residents of Camp Liberty to the safety of Ashraf as soon as possible, an Iraqi tribal leader has demanded.

Sheikh Kazem al-Anizan, the leader of the Tribal Council in south Iraq, told the al-Hadath news agency that the Iranian dissidents in Camp Liberty needed urgent protection in the wake of the deadly February missile attack that left eight dead and more than 100 injured.

He said: “The Iraqi government must take responsibility before God and his people, and as true Arabs and Muslims they must act to ensure the quick return of the members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) to Camp Ashraf and provide them with a free and honorable life because they are our guests. We have seen nothing from them but friendship and respect.

“It is the Iranian Qods Force and its mercenaries in Iraq in collaboration with the Iraqi government providing them arms, who are attacking the innocent residents in Camp Liberty.”

Mr al-Anizan also demanded that the Security Council and the UN sack its Iraqi envoy Martin Kobler, adding: “Martin Kobler has not been honest to the UN about the violated rights of the Iraqi people and PMOI.”
