Iranian regime’s spies working in Europe to smear PMOI (MEK) – The Netherlands’ Intelligence and Security Service

NCRI – Iranian regime’s spies are working undercover in Europe to smear the reputation of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), a report by the Netherlands AIVD Intelligence and Security Service has revealed.

The regime’s covert network consists of former Mujahedian-e-Khalq members who have been recruited by Iranian Intelligence, the AIVD’s 2012 report into domestic and international security threats said.

The former MEK members are tasked with spreading negative publicity about the resistance through lobbying and the media, they reported.

The Netherlands’General Intelligence and Security Service (Algemene Inlichtingen- en Veiligheidsdienst, AIVD) 2012 annual report:

The AIVD has also found that the Iranian government unabated has been active in its fight against the opposition movement Mujahedin-e-Khalq (MEK/PMOI).

It appears that the Iranian intelligence has a European network for this activity and that also is active in Netherlands.

This network consists of former MEK members recruited byy the Iranian intelligence .
They have been given the task of negatively influence public opinion about MEK through lobbying, publications and anti-MEK meetings.

They also gather information about the MEK and its (presumed) members for the Iranian Intelligence.

The AIVD 2011 report had said:

Teheran’s efforts to undermine the opposition People’s Mojahedin Organisation of Iran in the Netherlands continued unabated in 2011.

In a campaign coordinated and financed by the Iranian intelligence services, the media and a number of politicians and other public servants were approached with a view to portraying the MEK in a highly negative light.
