Iran: Mullahs clamp down on ‘election’ campaigning

NCRI – The Iranian regime has banned all elections campaigns and rallies from being staged without specific permission from the regime.

State Security Forces commander Brigadier General Ahmadi Moqaddam warned that police would ‘react harshly’ to any illegal pre-election events.

Brig Moqaddam said: “In the political arena, the most important issue is the election itself. The first priority of the police is to have a secure election, and will cooperate with other agencies to ensure there are no problems.

“Therefore, we ask the candidates to not create tensions, insult each other or cause destruction.”

He added: “If a candidate and his supporters want to run a carnival campaign, they need permission. Any rally or gathering without permission is prohibited and will be dealt with by the police.”
