Iranian regime’s intelligence minister’s visit to Baghdad is an insult, Iraqi politician states

NCRI – A leading Iraqi politician has strongly condemned the visit of Iranian regime’s intelligence minister Heydar Moslehi to Baghdad – branding it an insult to the legitimate anti-government protesters that his regime is terrorizing.

Iraqi Al-Iraqiya coalition leader Ahmed Al-Alvani also said the trip was a sign that Iran was panicking about losing influence in Iraq once the Syrian regime collapses.

Mr Al-Alvani said in a statement: “The visit by the terrorist Moslehi to Iraq is no surprise considering the fact that the Iranian regime has been invading Iraq since 2003, and remains the main player in Iraq’s political arena, and controls all our country’s affairs.

“Moreover, the Iranian regime’s Revolutionary Guards Corp and its Quds Force have been carrying out terrorist operation in Iraq for a long time now.

“This ominous visit now exposes to the world the extent and intensity of disgraceful Iranian regime’s meddling in Iraq.”

The statement added: “The visit of an high level official like the minister of intelligence is a slap in the face to Iraqi protesters in six provinces.

“They have been accused of being mercenaries of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, but we haven’t seen any Qatari or Saudi officials visiting Iraq to interfere in our affairs.

“If Moslehi is worried about the Iranian regime’s future influence in Iraq after the downfall of the Syrian regime, then he is right to be.

“If he has come to Iraq to discuss this problem, then his trip is pointless. The tide of protest is so strong that their car bombings and explosive packages in Iraqi streets and their support for the dictatorship in Syria will have no effect.”

Al-Avani called on the people of Iraq and the families of the victims of terrorist attacks to file complaints against ‘the Iranian regime and the Iraqi officials who conspire with them’ for killings across Iraq, which include the targeting of mosques in Baghdad and Kirkuk.”
