Iran: Senior cleric attacks Ahmadinejad at Friday Prayer

NCRI – A senior cleric in the Iranian regime criticized the regime’s president and literally describing him as an uninformed over his condolences letter regarding the death of Hugo Chavez, the Venezuelan president who passed away on early on March.

Ahmad Jannati, Tehran’s so-called Interim Friday Prayers Leader said: “I wish some people who wanted to comment on something would have studied for few days then attend the Huz-e Elmieh (Seminary school in city of Qom) and learned a few words so they could speak rightly who would return after death.

In his letter of condolence, Ahmadinejad wrote: “Chavez will no doubt return with Christ…”.

Jannati on one hand tried to downplay the importance of the issue while on the other hand he expressed the concern of the regime about the recent behavior by Ahmdinejad.

Jannati who is chairman of powerful Guardian Council said: “There is one issue that is not necessary to mention, but we are worried to be repeated again. That is the issue about the message of condolences for Chavez in which was unprecedented. That was about Chavez return alongside the Jesus Christ.”

In a clear reference to another recent act by Ahmadinejad, he said: “This is not like a governmental medal that you can put on someone chest and by doing it anger the religious leaders.”

“I hope this would not be repeated by putting the medal on someone else’s chest,” he added.

Last week, in a ceremony held for the coming of Iranian New Year on March 20, Ahmadinejad awarded Mashaei the country’s highest cultural medal. Mashaei, a confidant of Ahmadinejad and his relative, is described by other factions as the head of a “deviant current” within Ahmadinejad’s inner circle that has little respect for the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
