Injured Camp Liberty resident goes to coma

Urgent call on UN, UNHCR and WHO to transfer critically injured Liberty resident for treatment to Germany where he is a permanent resident.

NCRI – Saturday morning, 9th of March 2013, Mr. Hamid Rabi’ (Abbas Djoohari), who was wounded in the criminal missile attack on Camp Liberty on February 9th, 2013, suffered Gastrointestinal bleeding and was immediately transferred to a hospital in Baghdad Later in the day, he again had a recurrence of the bleeding and went into a coma. Doctors had injected blood in him several times. Liberty residents have also been asked to go to hospital to give blood.  He had recently returned to Liberty after several surgeries and remains in critical condition.

An Engineer by training, Mr. Rabi’ is 51 years old and a political refugee with permanent residency in Germany. He was wounded during the Feb. 9th missile attack on Liberty, with severe injuries to his stomach, spinal cord and vertebrate. Shrapnel penetrated his spinal cord, causing numbness waist down. The physicians completely removed his lien that was shattered by shrapnel.

All United Nations agencies, including the World Health Organization, have been informed about this latest development. Their representatives had already witnessed Mr. Rabi’s critical condition.

In view of Mr. Rabi’s critical and life threatening condition, the Iranian Resistance calls on the UN, UNHCR, and especially WHO, to transfer Mr. Rabi’ to Germany immediately for treatment; he already has a refugee travel document and is a permanent resident of that country.
