Iran: Armed anti-riot forces terrorize prisoners ahead of June elections

NCRI, Human Rights – Iran’s feared anti-riot security forces have raided prisons and beaten convicts in a bid to crush any protests ahead of the presidential election this June.

Reports from inside the regime have revealed State Security forces stormed wards at the Qezel-hesar prison on March 2 and bludgeoned defenceless prisoners.

The same prison was also raided in March 2011, when guards attacked and killed prisoners calling for an end to the death sentence.

Armed anti-riot squads also attacked the Central Prison of Kermanshah, western Iran, in recent days, beating prisoners and firing shots inside their cells.

Reports have also emerged of numerous similar recent attacks in other prisons around Iran.
