On the verge of the cold season, in addition to oil derivatives, Iraqi forces prevent entry of coal and wood log to Camp Ashraf

Camp Ashraf military occupation- No. 158

NCRI – At a time when forces under the command of Nouri al-Maliki have not allowed a drop of gasoline into Ashraf for over nine months and severely hinder entry of diesel fuel and kerosene, on Wednesday, November 2, the Iraqi Prime Ministry Committee tasked to suppress Ashraf residents prevented entry of consignments of coal and wood log that Ashraf residents had purchased on the verge of the cold season. In recent months, the suppressive forces returned several tankers carrying kerosene and diesel fuel that had been purchased by residents.

Ashraf residents that face serious problems in cooking meals, heating their water and buildings, and running their generators, etc. due to prohibition of entry of oil derivatives, have resorted to buying wood log and coal for their minimum heating requirements.

The Iranian Resistance, while stressing that this inhumane siege is a flagrant breach of human rights, international humanitarian rights, and many conventions that Iraq is a signatory to, draws the attention of the Security Council, the Secretary-General, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and other relevant UN bodies, together with the U.S. government, the European Union and its High Representative, and Ambassador Jean De Ruyt to the consequences of this anti-human measure and calls on them for urgent action to end this three year old siege.
