Mrs. Maryam Rajavi welcomes a UN decision on the Palestinian statehood

NCRI – The President-Elect of the Iranian resistance, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, welcomes a UN Security Council and General Assembly vote on the Palestinian statehood recognition under President Abbas and characterizes a favorable resolution as a step toward peace, democracy, and co-existence in the region.

Mrs. Rajavi emphasized that the formation of a Palestinian state will be a great blow to Islamic fundamentalism and terrorism in the region and will be a major step toward putting an end to Iran’s religious fascism influence there. “Those who genuinely believe in peace and democracy in the region and have a deeper understanding of fundamentalism and its threats will undoubtedly support a Palestinian state,” she said.

Mrs. Rajavi added: the biggest loser of such a decision, especially during the ongoing democracy uprisings in the region, will be the Iranian regime and its proxies in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Palestine, and elsewhere. Despite its “pro-Palestinian” rhetoric, the Iranian regime, via its surrogate groups there, has been sabotaging the Palestinian government and its plans.
