Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of NCRI, condemned Iraqi army attacks on Camp Ashraf

In her speech at the gathering of Iranian protesting in front of United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi,  President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), condemned Iraqi army attacks on camp Ashraf, and pointed out the responsibility of Washington toward these killings.

At her side, Several members of Swiss parliament and Swiss Committee in Defence of Ashraf were present. To deal with Baghdad government’s deadline to shut down camp Ashraf, the EU members of parliament have offered a plan to end the crisis, a plan that now has the support of Iranian resistance.

 

At stage one, the plan calls for the withdrawl of Iraqi forces that are stationed inside camp Ashraf, and end the siege against 3400 refugees in camp Ashraf. In addition, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI or MEK) and EU parliamentarian have called for establishment of a permanent UN mission in Ashraf and US forces protect Ashraf residents until they are displaced to third countries.

Since 2003, Ashraf was under control and protection of US forces, until Pentagon decided to hand over protection of Ashraf to Iraqi forces. Attack on camp Ashraf raise intense international protest and condemnation. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Navi Pilay, recently acknowledged that “the situation can not continue like that.”
