NCRI – The governor of Iraq’s Diyala province is backing a European Parliament plan for the residents of Camp Ashraf, according to Hona al-Iraq website on Tuesday.
Camp Ashraf, home to 3,400 members of the main Iranian opposition People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), is located in Iraq’s Diyala province.
Abdolnasser al-Mahdawi told reporters, “I support the European Parliament’s plan, negotiations and talks to resolve the issue of Ashraf.”
Mr. al-Mahdawi also voiced opposition to the displacement of Ashraf residents to another location in Iraq and said the residents’ choice of where to live has to be taken into account and they should not be forced.
