Iran regime planning massacre of political prisoners – Paris gatheringNCRI – In a gathering of human rights organizations and personalities in Paris in the honor of Hojjat Zamani on Wednesday, February 22, speakers raised alarm over deteriorating state of human rights in Iran.

The rising number of executions were a matter of grave concern for the participants, in particular, the threat of political prisoners massacre in the wake of the regime’s growing isolation within Iran and in the international scene.

Zamani, a member of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran was secretly executed in Gohardasht prison, west of Tehran, on February 7 after four years of imprisonment. Two weeks after his execution, the prison authorities have so far refrained from handing over his body to his family.

Panel of speakers in the Paris gathering included, Patrick Baudouin, honorary president of the International Federation of Human Rights; Bishop Jacques Gaillot, a distinguished French philanthropist figure; Monsef Marzoughi, representing Arab Human Rights Committee; Gilles Paruelle, Lawyer and former president of Val d’Oise province Bar Association; Pierre Bercis, president of the French New Human Rights; Renee Le Mignot, deputy chair of MRAP; and Dr. Saleh Rajavi, NCRI representative to France and Switzerland.

The meeting was chaired by Behzad Naziri, a former political prisoner who has a good knowledge of prisons in Iran and the kind tortures used by the regime to break the resolve of the prisoners.
