NCRI – The Norwegian government has strongly condemned Friday’s perpetration of violence by the Iraqi government against unarmed residents in Camp Ashraf.
Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said in a statement, “I am deeply troubled by the use of force against civilians and stress the responsibility of Iraqi officials towards the safety of Ashraf residents.”
He added that he had repeatedly voiced concern about the situation in Camp Ashraf, reminding Baghdad of its obligations.
According to Norway’s news agency, Mr. Gahr Støre said he had asked the country’s ambassador in Iraq to inquire about the situation in Ashraf from Iraqi officials. He added that Oslo will try to get a clearer picture of the developments through the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).
