NCRI – On the morning of Sunday, 30 July 2017, Gohardasht prison officers in Karaj west of Tehran forcefully transferred the political detainees to the maximum-security Hall after beating and mayhem.

According to a new report, officers took the political prisoners to the courtyard on the pretext that one prisoner has escaped and they have to get statistics, and then transferred them to the max-security Hall 10, Ward 4 by force. All 53 transferred prisoners staged hunger strike to protest regime’s actions.

The report indicates that, the health condition of one of the political prisoners (Shahin Zoghi-Tabar) was deteriorated on Tuesday, August 1, due to the hunger strike, and he was transferred to the so-called Rajaei Hospital in Karaj. But with his hands handcuffed from behind, the officers sent him back to solitary confinement without any medical treatment.

However, his health deteriorated again in solitary confinement on Friday, August 4, due to hunger strike and transferred to hospital again. According to the report, the prisoner was returned back to the prison hall while his blood pressure was just above 6.

On Wednesday, 2 August 2017, the prison officers attack Hall 10 again and transfer 14 prisoners to solitary confinement and place them under interrogation and pressure.

The names of nine of these prisoners in solitary confinement (quarantine section) include: Saeed Masouri, Hassan Sadeghi Khorramdashti, Reza Akbari Monfared, Abolghasem Fouladvand, Jafar Eghdami, Amir Ghaziani, Khaled Hardani, Zandiar Moradi and Loghman Moradi.

These nine political prisoners are on hunger strike and they are told that they will not be allowed to have meeting with their families if they do not break their hunger strike.

Hall 10 of Gohardasht prison in Karaj is an ultra-security hall with 4 closed-circuit cameras and 64 surveillance systems and an advanced control room. According to former political prisoners, this hall is similar to glass solitary cells.
