NCRI – Iran-backed Vice President of Iraq assured Tehran of measures
against the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI).
In reference to the state of the PMOI in Iraq, the state-run Persian daily
Javan quoted Adel Abdul Mahdi, Vice President of Iraq assuring the
mullahs, “that this group will not stay in Iraq and we will expel them
from Iraq and those people in this group who are found to have
committed crimes will be brought to justice.”
His remarks come at a time when members of the PMOI are being
recognized as “protected persons” under the Geneva Fourth Convention.
In the meantime every single member of the PMOI have been screened
several times in the past two years by different U.S. departments and
they were fully cleared of any criminal record.
Comments by Mahdi reflected the desperate desire of the clerical regime
to expel the PMOI from Iraq as the main obstacle for clerical regime’s
efforts to export fundamentalism to that country.
