NCRI – More than 3,000 workers walked out in protest to their unpaid salaries in the past seven months in the northwestern city of Meshkinshahr.

The protesting workers blocked Tabriz-Sabalan highway to attract attention of the commuters.  The road remained shut in the past two days.

In support for their fellow workers, the employees stopped working at Alborz Tire Factory in the northwestern city of Ardebil on Tuesday.

Sabalan like most of Iran's factories and workshops was turned over to private management. However, the new managers are mostly relatives and cronies of the leaders of the mullahs' regime. Often they are former Islamic Revolutionary Guards turned businessmen overnight such as current Interior Minister, Sadeq Mahsouli.
  
Hundreds of workshops and factories went on strike over payments in the past year. Factories such as Haft-Tapeh sugar cane mill, Kiyan-Tire making car tires, Iran Khodro car manufacturer are some of the biggest with tens of thousands of workers.
 
In the past decade, most of Iran's factories have been privatized by the mullahs' regime opening the doors to even more suppressive measures against the Iranian workforce.  The new managements were appointed by the government without adequate protection for workers and their families who make the most venerable part of the population.
