Beatings and arrests by the SSF agentsNCRI – The mullahs' Chastity Patrols are roaming the streets of the northern provincial capital of Rasht picking up men and women deemed not observing the strict dress code set by the regime.

Some young women happened to be shop-owners of women boutiques were arrested in line with the so-called "boosting public security," in Rasht on Friday.

In addition, all outerwear made in the West were also seized by the Chastity Patrols. It is widely believed that confiscated goods end up in black markets designed by the security apparatus generating huge profits.

The so-called "boosting public security plan" was first introduced in April 2007 to combat popular uprisings. Mass street arrests of hundreds of thousands of women and youth under the pretext of "mal-veiling" and cracking down on "thugs and hooligans" followed. In the same period, more than 300 prisoners were sent to gallows.
