NCRI - On orders of the Iranian regime’s president, Ahmadinejad,
Khavaran Cemetery, the burial site of executed political prisoners, has
been destroyed, with gravestones broken and trees uprooted.
The Secretariat of the National Council of Resistance of Iran revealed
in a statement on August 30, 2005: The anti-human regime intends to
convert the Khavaran Cemetery in east Tehran and the site of mass
graves of victims of the 1988 massacres, to an ordinary cemetery and
destroy evidence of the killings of 30,000 political prisoners
affiliated with the Mojahedin and other political parties. The task was
put on Ahmadinejad’s agenda sometime ago by Khamenei, the regime’s
leader, when Ahmadinejad was still mayor of Tehran.
The Iranian Resistance calls on human rights organizations, families of
martyrs of the 1988 massacres, and all human rights advocates across
the world to condemn this criminal act.
