Iran: On average three prisoners hanged in Yazd every week PDF Print E-mail

yazd-executions-150NCRI – On average, the mullahs' regime hangs three prisoners every week in the central city of Yazd, according to the Resistance sources in Iran. Last week alone 15 prisoners were sent to gallows in Yazd.

"Most of the hanged prisoners were in their twenties," the report added. The clerical regime hangs most of the prisoners under the pretext of fighting "thugs and hooligans."

Since the beginning of what it called "boosting public security plan" in April of 2007, executions have been carried out in a rapid pace. The plan started out by the so-called combating "mal-veiling," but soon it gained speed in suppressing the Iranian citizens of all walks of life.

On July 25, in a single day 29 prisoners with the same charges of being "thugs and hooligans" were executed; among them were political prisoners and those arrested in the fuel uprisings of last summer.

A week following the "mass executions," ten more prisoners were hanged in cities throughout the country.
