Larijani urged the IRGC to be wary of difficulties ahead in Iran PDF Print E-mail
Sunday, 10 August 2008

ali-larijani100NCRI – Brig. Gen. Ali Larijani, mullahs' Majlis (parliament) speaker and former top nuclear negotiator with the West urged his old cronies in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) to concentrate on the country's "problems" and try to find solutions to the staggering economy.

"We do not need the government officials to devise ideological subjects; instead, they should be seeking to resolve economic problems,” he told a group of IRGC commanders on Sunday.

"I am indeed proud of being an IRGC member in past," Larijani said.

He referred to the IRGC as the sole force with abundance of experience in suppressing internal uprisings by reminding his audience of the early 1980s and the People's Mojahedin Organization (PMOI/MEK) brutal suppression.

Larijani said that the "situation is very complicated" where the US no longer hides "behind the MEK" and has put aside all other covers. It is "confronting us on its own" now.

At the end, the Majlis speaker said, "The problem with the US is not the nuclear issue nor is it the human rights [violations], but it is the regime change in Iran."
