NCRI-According to Islamic Republic News Agency, 100 participants in the anti-government demonstrations in Eghlid (southern province of Fars) were wounded.

Residents of Eghlid took part in major anti-government demonstrations on April 23 and 24, and called for removal of city and provincial officials.

They opposed the separation of a tourist attraction section from Eghlid. Simultaneous with the demonstration, shops, schools and government offices were shut down.

Young people blocked many streets and destroyed government buildings. It is said that two police officers were killed in the clashes.

According to state-run media, the representative of Eghlid in Iran's Majlis  (parliament) resigned from his post.
