Two-day plenary session of National Council of Resistance of Iran ratified
Formation of National Solidarity Front to Overthrow Religious Dictatorship Ruling Iran

Two-day plenary session of National Council of Resistance of Iran ratified

Voting by members of the Iranian Resistance's parliament-in-exile, who live in Iran and different countries around the world, came to an end this morning and the National Council of Resistance of Iran wrapped up its two-day plenary session devoted to a discussion of the situation in Iran with the adoption of a plan to form the "National Solidarity Front to Overthrow Religious Dictatorship Ruling Iran."

Of the parliament's 555 members, 530 were able to attend the session, chaired by Mr. Massoud Rajavi. They discussed the explosive situation in Iran, the rising repression and executions, the aggravating infighting within the ruling clerical clique and the pervasive crisis that has made the mullahs' overthrow inevitable.

The Council agreed that these prospects necessitate ever-greater national solidarity among Iranians; a fact that prompted the NCRI to ratify the formation of the National Solidarity Front to Overthrow Religious Dictatorship. The Front will encompass all Iranians and "republicans" who "are campaigning for a democratic, independent and secular regime."

The NCRI was the sole party that maintained, from the very beginning, that Khatami was not a reformist, nor did he stand the slightest chance of reforming the mullahs' moribund regime that had undergone three schisms as a result of the Iranian Resistance's political and military campaigns.

The Resistance's President-elect for the transitional period, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, congratulated the Iranian people on the adoption of the plan for the National Solidarity Front and described the Front as "a reflection of the most profound democratic yearnings of all the people of Iran, regardless of ideology, belief, religion and ethnicity, that transcends all partisan and political interests." She said the Front "embodies the unshakable resolve of the Iranian people to overthrow the mullahs' inhuman†regime."
