The Associated Presse - Denmark has temporarily withdrawn its ambassadors from Syria, Iran and Indonesia because their safety was at risk in the wake of a Danish newspaper's publication of drawings of the Prophet Muhammad, the Foreign Ministry said Saturday. |

The United Press International -- Iran's leading opposition grouping in exile Friday accused the hardline clerical regime of inflaming Muslim anger towards the west over cartoons of Mohammed.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice directed a similar claim against the Iranian and Syrian governments Wednesday. In a statement on its website, The Paris-based National Council of Resistance of Iran condemned the caricatures of the Prophet --which were originally published in a Danish daily -- for insulting Muslims' religious beliefs and playing into the hands of the mullahs in Tehran. |

The Associated Press - The chief U.S. arms control official said Thursday the international standoff over Iran's disputed nuclear program will not be resolved quickly.
"This is going to be a very difficult diplomatic effort stretching over many months," Robert G. Joseph, the undersecretary of state for arms control, told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. |

NCRI - Former US Assistant Secretary of Defense Richard Perle called for support for the democratic opposition in Iran.
Speaking to Munich Security Conference, Mr. Perle said: "US Republican Senator John McCain and Democratic Senator Liberman have called for support of the democratic opposition in Iran and I find this position quite reasonable. This is much better and much more practical than to start thinking about the time of a military operation in Iran." |

The U.S. News - President Bush is finding resistance among some Republican leaders over talk of a military strike against Iranian nuclear sites. Hill leadership aides and at least one senior Republican senator have told the White House that growing public dissatisfaction with the current war in Iraq and Afghanistan has soured the public on more military action, even if not taking action means letting Tehran continue working on nuclear facilities and weapons. |

Agence France Presse, WASHINGTON - US Vice President Dick Cheney said Tuesday that Iran's rejection of a Russian compromise to defuse the "dangerous" nuclear dispute all but proved that the Islamic Republic wants atomic weapons.
In an interview with PBS television, Cheney pointed to Tehran's refusal to sign on to Moscow's proposal to carry out uranium enrichment on Russian territory in a bid to ease global worries that Iran seeks nuclear arms. |
