Iran: Mullahs; regime admits election boycott and sluggish turnout at the polls (Tehran, 5:00 p.m.) PDF Print E-mail

Active ImageNCRI - Reports by the civil correspondent network of the People’s Mojahedin Organization (PMOI/MEK) of Iran from twenty five thousand polling stations in the country until 5PM today, indicate an unprecedented sluggish turnout at the polls and that the charade has come under a vast public boycott.  According to these reports, in some districts, the voter turnout is many times lower than past similar elections.  At most polling stations, the number of security forces and regime agents are much more than the participating voters and the voters are comprised of mostly members of the security forces and their families.

NCRI - Reports from Tehran and other cities indicate a sluggish voter turnout at regime’s election charade today. 

Number of security forces and observers are over 4 times the participating voters in Tehran at various polling stations such as Poonak Square, Shemiranat, Sadeque area, Mohseni Square, Seid Khandan, Narmak, Vali-Asr, and Saiee Park.

Active ImageNCRI - In an unprecedented move, the mullahs' inhuman regime has barred the student activists from enrolment, an accumulated 17 semesters.  They had participated in the recent Shiraz University protests in southern Iran.

The timing for the decision has been selected by the school in a way not to leave the subjected students any room for protest to the ruling since the New Year holidays will resume on March 21. Most of the censured students are from out of town and had left the school already for holidays.

Iran: SSF crackdown on Shiraz University's medical students PDF Print E-mail

NCRI - The State Security Forces (SSF) attacked a gathering of medical college students at Shiraz University in southern Iran on Sunday. The event marked the anniversary of nationalizing Iran's oil industries nearly 60 years ago. SSF Special Units attacked the meeting beating up some of the participants and arresting some others. The detained students were transferred to an unknown location by the SSF.

Maryam Rajavi welcomes the third sanction resolution by the UN Security Council against the mullahs' regime and calls for comprehensive sanctions

The regime is extremely susceptible to comprehensive sanctions which intensifies the internal factional feuding and increases the popular uprisings

NCRI - Earlier today the UN Security Council adopted its third resolution imposing new sanctions against the ruling religious fascism in Iran. The new resolution underlines the contents of the previous resolutions 1696, 1737 and 1747 and reiterates that the regime had not cooperated with the additional protocol and not complied with the mandates of the IAEA Board of Governors. The Council in the new resolution sanctioned 13 individuals working for the Iranian regime and ten industrial firms which are involved in the nuclear programs. It also asks the member states to refrain from permitting the Iranian air and sea cargos from entering their ports and airports and subject them to thorough inspections. The resolution warns the member states from entering into financial transactions with the Iranian banks.

Student protests in Shiraz University entered second week PDF Print E-mail

NCRI - On Saturday, in the second week of anti-government protests, more than 1,000 students packed full the Shiraz University campus chanting: "It is a path to victory" and "The runaway chancellor must resign."

The demonstrators backed by students from other colleges such as Bahonar Engineering College carried on through the day.

Iranian Resistance's evaluation of the IAEA's report on Iran PDF Print E-mail

Iranian regime's responses to IAEA's questions on contaminated equipments and Polonium 210 are absolutely untrue and fabrications

The documents that the clerical regime has provided to the IAEA are nothing but fabrications, conjuring up stories, and justification of what has already been unveiled. These documents and claims bear no credibility and prove nothing

NCRI - The Committee of Defense and Strategic Studies (CDSS) of the National Council of Resistance of Iran issued its assessment on the IAEA's recent report on the clerical regime's nuclear programs in 20 paragraphs today. The document stresses, "The IAEA's report, February 22, 2008, on Iranian regime's nuclear projects contains very important points on the regime's efforts to acquire nuclear bomb. In light of the points raised in the report, adoption of comprehensive sanctions against the regime is a necessity more than before." But it states, "Report contains certain unacceptable mistakes which require serious modifications." The CDSS considers the regime's widespread efforts to conceal its nuclear projects and misleading the IAEA with a background of special considerations of the IAEA's Director General, as the main reasons for the mistakes.
