Iran: 1,000 students demonstrated in Tehran chanting "Death to dictator" NCRI - In a major demonstration in Tehran on Tuesday, more than 1,000 students chanted, "Death to dictator," "Ahmadinejad is like [Augusto] Pinochet, but Iran would never be another Chile" and "Free the jailed students," on the Polytechnic (Ami Kabir) University. 

Their protest came after the mullahs' judiciary announced last week that the three detained students from the school have each been sentenced to around two years in jail on charges of insulting the authorities. The protesters demanded the release of the jailed students.

National Council of Resistance of IranNCRI- On Sunday, students protested against installation of surveillance cameras on the campus of Mazandaran University south of the Caspian Sea.
 
Students petitioning against installation of the monitoring devices on the university campus clashed with the school's security guards. The chief of the security at Mazandaran University threatened the protesters with hauling them before the school's disciplinary committee.

Iran Execution, HangedNCRI - The mullahs' inhuman regime hanged four prisoners -- not naming them -- in the prison yard in the central city of Kerman, reported the official news agency IRNA on Monday.

Hanging of 10 prisoners in a week is a sign of a sudden increase in the number of executions after a lull. The ruling clerical regime in its faltering state turns to more suppressive measures against the Iranian people.

National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)NCRI - Clashes between people and the agents of Ministry of Intelligence and Security (MOIS) as well as Special Units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the cities of southern province of Bushehr such as Shabankareh, Borazjan, Saad Abad and Poshtkoh entered a new phase. Plain-cloths agents of MOIS riding on motorcycles roamed the streets beating up and arresting local residents.

Sample ImageNCRI - Hossein Tayeb, deputy commander of the paramilitary Bassij Force, a domestic subordinate of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the formation of new "Security Patrols," reported the official news agency IRNA on Wednesday.

"The major goal for running the new Bassij patrols is to guarantee the safety and security of citizens in urban areas as well as combating 'hooligans and thugs.'...In addition, the [occasional] checkpoints run by the Bassij [in the neighborhoods] will be available, as before, at the time of possible crisis," said Tayeb.
