Largest rally in protest to Ahmadinejad's presence in UN

Iranian Rally in New York against Ahmadinejad's visit to UNThousands of Iranian-Americans rallied in New York on Wednesday, September 14, against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Iranian regime’s new terrorist president. The event was widely reported by international media and the following are excerpts:

Associated Press, September 15 – … The protestors claimed that President Ahmadinejad had ordered the execution of thousands of political prisoners and was a major figure in the assassination of Iranian dissidents abroad.

Iran-U.S.: Independent U.S. Policy group says Iranian opposition falsely accused of terrorism

Prof. Raymond Tanter addressing the press conferenceNCRI, September 15 – In a press conference on September 13 at Washington’s National Press Club, an independent policy group urged the Bush administration to remove the Iranian Resistance, main opposition to Tehran regime, from the U.S. list of foreign terrorist organizations.

The Iran Policy Committee, formed in January to influence U.S. policy toward Iran, described as baseless terrorist allegations cited by the administration against the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), also known as the MEK.

20,000 Iranians rally outside UN, demand expulsion of Ahmadinejad, support democratic change in Iran

ImageNCRI, September 15 - On Wednesday September 14, more than 20,000 Iranians from 40 states across America rallied outside the United Nations Headquarters to condemn strongly the presence of Iran's terrorist president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad at the UN and demanded his expulsion.

The demonstrators carried the portraits of the Resistance's leadership and Iran's tri-colored flag and chanted slogans the policy of appeasing the clerical regime, demanding the removal of the terrorist tag against the resistance's pivotal force, the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran. They also expressed their support for democratic change in Iran with Maryam Rajavi.

France threatens Iran with U.N. referral

French Prime Minister, Dominique de VillepinReuters, UNITED NATIONS, September 14 - France threatened Iran with referral to the United Nations over its nuclear activities on Wednesday despite the misgivings of the IAEA, the U.N.'s atomic watchdog agency.

In remarks to the U.N. Security Council, Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin stressed the need for a "determined response" against weapons proliferation.

"In the nuclear sphere, we have put our trust in the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)," where there are rights to uphold and duties to enforce, he said.

"Iranians think Ahmadinejad is not their representative, he's a terrorist," said Bahman Badiee of the Iran Society of South Florida.

Iran: Political Prisoners stage hunger strike in Gohardasht Prison

NCRI, September 14 - A number of political prisoners including Messrs. Valiollah Feiz Mahdavi, Hojjat Zamani, Bina Darabvand and Behrouz Javid Tehrani have staged a hunger strike in protest against the appalling conditions of the infamous Gohardasht (Rajai Shahr) prison in Karaj (west of Tehran). They have been incarcerated in ward for bandits and murderers for a long time.

The health of Mr. Zamani, 29, imprisoned since 2001 and sentenced to four executions, has rapidly deteriorated. He has been beaten and assaulted repeatedly by the prison guards. His brothers, Khaz'al and Fallah, and one uncle were murdered by the Revolutionary Guards and Intelligence Ministry agents because of their support for the People's Mojahedin.

International NGOs express concern over grave human rights violations in Iran

NCRI, September 13 - 12 non-governmental organizations that have consultative status with the United Nations issued a declaration calling on the UN subcommittee on Human Rights to consider human rights abuses in Iran as very grave and probe the deteriorating rights situation in that country.

The NGOs included the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, Movement against Racism and for Friendship among Peoples, International Women's League for Peace and Freedom, International Human Rights Consortium, France Liberte (Danielle Mitterrand's foundation), New Human Rights, and a number of other prominent organizations.

Iranian opposition group says Iran building centrifuges to extract

Ali SafaviAssociated Press, BRUSSELS, Belgium, September 13 _ An exiled Iranian opposition group said Tuesday it had information that Iran would soon start its nuclear uranium enrichment program and called for further U.N. inspections into allegations that Tehran was smuggling material from China.

Ali Safavi, from the Paris-based National Council of Resistance of Iran, said Tehran was building the first phase of 5,000 centrifuges to extract bomb-grade uranium.
